Applications Open for the 2026 Academic Year
The Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET) invites top-performing matric learners from the 2025 academic year to apply for the Special Matric Top Achievers Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.
This bursary aims to support academically strong learners who wish to pursue studies in finance, accounting, economics, IT, and related fields at public higher education institutions in South Africa.
Who Can Apply
To be considered for this bursary, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Must have completed Matric in 2025 (any other matric year will be automatically disqualified)
- Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 75%
- Must come from a combined household income of R1 000 000 or less per annum
- Must be registered or accepted at a Public University or University of Technology
- Must be studying towards a qualification in one of the following fields:
- Economics and Management Sciences
- Accounting Sciences
- Auditing and Taxation
- Information Technology (IT-related qualifications)
- Actuarial Sciences
Bursary Value and Coverage
- Funding is capped at R100 000 per annum for university learners
- The bursary covers:
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Accommodation
- Meal allowances
Important Notes
- Applications are submitted via an online form
- The form does not automatically collect personal details such as your name or email address — applicants must ensure all required information is filled in correctly
- No feedback by 15 March 2026 should be considered an unsuccessful application
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
Mandatory Application Documents
Applicants must submit all of the following documents:
- Certified copy of the applicant’s South African ID (not older than 6 months)
- Certified copy of Matric (NSC) statement of results
- Acceptance or registration letter from a public university or university of technology
- All documents must be merged into one single document before uploading
