Traxtion Diesel Electrical Fitter Apprenticeship

Traxtion Africa is offering a Diesel Electrical Fitter Apprenticeship in Rosslyn, Pretoria, South Africa. This is a structured three-year training programme designed for young South Africans who want to qualify as Diesel Electrical Fitter artisans in the rail industry.

About the Programme

The apprenticeship takes place at Traxtion’s Rail Services Hub in Rosslyn, Pretoria. Over the three years, apprentices will receive:

  • Practical, hands-on training in diesel and electrical fitting
  • Experience in a real workshop environment
  • Technical exposure to locomotive systems and rail maintenance

At the end of the programme, successful candidates will be assessed by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). Candidates who meet the required standards will qualify as certified Diesel Electrical Fitter artisans, a nationally recognised trade qualification.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Matric certificate (Grade 12)
  • Passes in Mathematics, Physical Science and English
  • N2 related trade subjects or equivalent technical subjects
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Word and Excel)
  • Good communication skills in English

The following will be considered an advantage:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Technical Engineering
  • Previous experience in the rail or transport industry
  • Age between 18 and 25 years (preferred but not mandatory)
